Underrated:Tom Taylor's Suicide Squad

I call it underrated because no one seems to really talk about it.And its an AMAZING series.
Probably the strongest point to Tom Taylor's writing is just how much of the DC universe he is using.
With characters like Magpie,Cavalier and Zebra-man,freaking Zebra-man,and guess what he got nothing to do with Zebras.


A big change is that Amand Waller is no longer in charge of Task Force X it's some other shmuck.

A problem i had with previous suicide squad series is that they introduced new, never before seen villains just so they can have cannon fodder for the book,because what is a Suicide Squad book without someone getting killed in action.
But this book makes the majority of its members new characters like Osita, Jog, Wink and others, while it sounds like a bad idea, in the end they are probably the best part about this comic.
They have a personality, goals and when some of them die you feel somehing, because it matters.



What I'm expecting is more great Harley moments and other characters appearing as well.Maybe some actual fun with Zerba-man or some other stuff idk, and of course more Deadshot action.


A strong 5 out of 5 bullets for this one.

x men:mutant massacre review/The x men event that changed everything(literary)

                   


The mutant massacre is x men's first crossover event ever. Originally intended as a single story in the pages of X men, Louise Simonson,the writer on X factor and Power Pack at the time, suggested crossing over,alongside Louise's husband Walter Simonson, writer of Thor, and Ann Nocenti, writer on Daredevil.
The issues included :
Uncanny X men:210-213
New Mutants:46
X factor:9-11
Power Pack:27
Thor:373-374
Daredevil:238

The story is pretty simple, a bunch of bad mutants, the Marauders, go ahead and basically, as the name suggests,massacre the morlocks(mutants who live in the sewers of manhatan, because they don't look like "normal people"). Pretty cheerful times i know.
The Marauders are the newly appearing                                 Riptide,Harpoon,Blockbuster,Scalphunter,Scrambler, Malice, Archlight, Prism, Vertigo(a savage land mutant who appeared a few years prior) and finally Sabretooth, who makes his first appearance in an X men story and hasn't appeared since Iron fist #15,a whole decade prior.
They are hired to do this by a mysterious person for a mysterious reason.









The story is overall great but probably the things its actually remembered for is that this is the

beginning of Wolverine and Sabretooth's rivalry. In probably one of their most brutal fights ever. Hell Sabretooth even fights Daredevil when Logan isn't around.
Also this is the story where Angel gets his wings butchered and things got blue later on. Not only that a lot of the characters got injured or sidelined for a pretty long time, even freaking Thor didn't left unscathed after this.



So what happened in the aftermath of this,well
-this would eventually lead to future X men events right after this
-Psylocke(who isn't Asian at the time) would finally join the team
-some of the x men would go and form Excalibur later on
-and yeah Archangel happens




Favourite issue:I have 2 actually Power Pack 27 and Uncanny X men 213
The first one is mostly due to the heart-breaking scene of, the Morlock,Leech learning of the death of his caretaker Annalee, it hits hard man.
And the second one is pretty much the conclusion of the story with Wolverine and Sabretooth's drag out fight,and Psylocke proving herself to the X men.



Least favourite issue:Uncanny X men 210
Exept for the final scene nothing connects to the event at all, i personally think its a waste of a great cover(the one at the beginning of this post).


Overall the story is a solid 3 adamantium claws out of 3, definetly would recommend.

Best X-men members ever(my opinion btw)

10:CYCLOPS

The true leader of the x men,what's cooler than a guy who shoots eye-beams , but eye-beams that come from an alternate dimension with only concussive blasts in it.
Honestly Scott has been put through the ringer throught x men's publication history but still manages to came on top somehow(except for death of x but we don't talk about that)
Anyway Cyclops is the true pinacle of an X man







9:CABLE

Cyclops's  son from the future and some clone nonsense.Its like terminator and john conner were the same person (ignoring Terminator Genesis)
Putting that aside,this seemingly overpowered mutant is no joke to mess around with whether you're apocalypse or deadpool.
Also he dominated the 90s X men as a signature character,talk about defining a generation of  xmen fans.
This just proves that bigger is definetly better.













8:BISHOP 

Lucas Bishop is arguably another Cable,but just mad maxified.
Hailing from the future of Days of Future Past(or some version of it) coming to kick some Sentinel causing event's bottom.
And of course the powers,the different ways he uses his enegy manipulation powers is a treat whether he blasts someone in the face or get physically stronger he can do it,what else to be expected from the great-grandson of Gateway.

7:THUNDERBIRD
No not James but John.
That's right him.

The unsung x men hero,while brash when he was an X man,he more than made up with it later on in the publications.He  was pretty much the reason the whole Necrosha plan by Selene failed,and saved the world.
Also will please someone get John and Sophie  Cuckoo together c'mon they deserve it,they are already back anyways.
Let's go justice for both.





6:MIMIC 

Ok hear me out he can have not only any mutant power but skills as well.Well move aside Hope Summers and make way for Calvin Rankin.
I mean let's think about it since he can copy any powers and skills ,not including mutant, what if he bonded with the Phoenix Force.
Since the Phoenix is literary bonded with him he won't lose the power,not only that,he gets to gain the powers of the Phoenix as well,we are pretty much looking at a Super Phoenix Force Mode,essentilly someone double the power of the regular Force.
Also since he is already dealing with mental issues and,gaining and cotrolling
another Phoenix force  he will pretty much remain in control for at least a while
if not at all times.





5:FORGE 

Who's Hank McCoy i only see FORGE,
THE SMARTEST X MAN OF ALL THE FRANCHISE.
I mean seriously he invented a device that removes mutant powers in pretty much one of his first appearances.Also he treats Storm like the godess that she is,so respect there too.
He also has mystic abilities and hand-to-hand combat experience,
I guess calling him the Xmen's Dr Doom isn't incorrect.










4:DAZZLER

Yes Dazzler,now hear me out before you say how lame her powers are,which is true or untrue depending on who you ask,
she is the mutants idol.Makes charity concerts for mutants benefits and probably changed a mutie hater to a mutie lover somewhere out there.
My point is that she probably helps more mutants than Xavier or Magneto ever do without making soldiers out of them.
With that i pretty much rest my case on why Dazzler should be
respected.

3:DARWYN
I mean what can i say the guy literary evolves to survive,if you think about it,he can outlive Apocalyplse and Selene and under the right circumstances he could become the true ultimate mutant.
Let's just igniore the First Class version because im just confused

2:LONGSHOT 
The luskiest man alive,let's ignore his horrible romantic life and being born in the Mojoverse.
Aside from that  luck is the name of the game.
I mean seriously when u you think about it if you are lucky enough you can beat even thor and galactus sitting on the living tribunal,i mean c'mon he even saved the universe once.
Seriously the only difference between him and Domino is that she has a fandom of "Wade Wilsons".
And Longshot gets thrown under the rug,well enough is enough i say.
